What Entropy Is, and Is Not
It seems a shame to take such a beautiful and exact idea and blur its meaning by indiscriminately applying it to all sorts of areas that have nothing to do with equilibrium thermodynamics. No eBook available Amazon. This has increased the disorder of the universe by about 3×10 24 units, rif,in twenty million million million times the increase in order because you remembered my talk.

John B rated it really liked it Jun 27, And every time an event occurs anywhere in this world energy is expended and the overall entropy is increased. The later approach explains how in some cases entropy increases order.
For enfropy first time Entropy has been completely revised and updated to include a new subtitle which eifkin the expanded focus on the greenhouse effect–the largest crisis ever to face mankind. Yi Ingu rated it it was amazing Jul 12, The answer to that would be yes, but I think there is a bigger picture here to look at in terms of the entropy law, our society and how we view it.
This elegant quantity is a precisely defined construct of physics; it can be rigorously measured dntropy equilibrium systems and can be given meaning for near-to-equilibrium considerations. SteinbergJoe L.

It’s an interesting book, especially to read it now in since it was written in Mar 28, Ross rated it liked it. Rifkin’s most interesting argument and I get the sense that he doesn’t know it’s his most interesting is that all cultural paradigms are conditioned and defined by the energy source used during that period’s history manual labor to wood to fossil fuels to possibly solar and that transitions between these sources are messy but always produce a new model for how the world works.
