Started on Vol 2 already: Don’t dare go on to the battlefield without your armor on. The contents of this volume focuses on the Christian graces, the working of faith conplete everyday life and spiritual warfare.

It’s a Puritan book so the language is tough to grasp if you’ve never read a puritan book.
I am nearly finished with this page book, and I will start reading it again upon completion.
I must admit that there is no way that I could have read through such a challenging book – in size, content and writing style Gurnall lived in the ‘sbut I am so thankful I did ccomplete it is filled with a wealth of spiritual guidance, encouragement and admonition, as the author plods through the apostle Paul’s glorious passage in Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 10 through But, I’ve been rather gracious giving some 2, 3 or 4 star ratings.
Now for Vol 2. The author, William Gurnall, included in his book, how to overcome the enemy of our soul a subject most minister’s will not elaborate on.

Gurnall writes, ‘”Guard Against Discouragement. I began reading this book as a Sunday Read, and thus it took me almost 2 years to finish it. Keep in mind that Spurgeon’s library contained over books and the great majority of them he had heavily annotated. Suffice it to say, I will acquire volume two in the near future and continue learning from this tremendous storehouse of Christian truth.
Chock full armoyr all sorts of great ideas and thoughts that all Christians need to hear. This is a great book for daily reading and really helps put a perspective on the daily battle we face against spiritual warfare. This is a book everyone should read.

Though this modern version is easy to read and you may find your quickly traveling through Gurnall’s thoughts, I’d advise you to camp out at places and let your thirsty and tired soul drink and rest in the goodness of God. Some of his applications and examples are a arjour dated, but it is very useful, even in the 21st c!
