This was a quick read for me and enjoyable, although I do not know if I will read the rest of the series. Described as a bit plump, disorganized, yet with a sharp and practical mind, and best of all, ages are never really mentioned.
The Minnipins only naively fall into evil ways, doing what they believe is right, but it is the rugged individualists, the outcasts, who are the real heroes. I found myself encouraged and comforted by this story, and the hope and acceptance it embodies.

Reading about the glowing swords,glittering cloaks, and the houses with their green-painted doors made want to be there. Where Kendall surpasses Tolkien, however, is in character development of these Minnipins. It’s not often that I find a jewel like this in my school readers! The main theme in the book is conformity verses nonconformity. We too can grow stunningly bright when we have a cause we are passionate about. One good book would be enough. He decides to raise the village without the help of the Periods.
The Gammage Cup
The primary Gammmage, on the other hand, are very distinctive – we know more about how they think and feel and act. This time there are only Muggles and her friends, outlaws who must rescue the very people who have cast them out. One particular rainy, autumn day, I ran across this book. Also living in the village are a group of Minnipins referred to as “Them” by the other villagers. This book has such a wonderful,magical quality to it my brain finally realized that I just want to keep reading more of it.
It is surrounded by four mountain ranges: The Minnipins are a people who have lost their history. The mayor returns from the annual meeting of village mayors with news that there will be a contest to find the finest village in the Land Between the Mountains. The Whisper of Glocken. Attention editors and publishers and authors of today: It was all right but I didn’t find it to be gammage thing special.
It is an allegory, a very sophisticated allegory, with some themes that I really want to disagree with, but I can’t bring myself to do so because they are so intricately interwoven with other themes that I really want to agree with. The description of the Minnipins’ land keeps making me think of the Shire, where one finds olde English-sounding names like Samwise and Esmeralda and Rosamunda.

This is another book I would have absolutely loved when I was younger. I am curious to find the sequel and see what I think. There was also a part that made me think of The Lord of the Rings due to the swords that glow only when the enemy is near. I read this book several times as a kid. There are so many discussion opportunities as well as gammxge sense of humor that emanates from this book. May 12, Sarah rated it it was amazing. They end up thwarting an attack, which results in everyone do I really enjoyed this book when I was a kid, and gammge I came across it as an adult, I decided to read it again. I acquired my copy of this book in the early s at a middle school book fair.
Kendall uses five characters who do not fit in with their society but are able show their worth in saving it. And more importantly, can the five Outlaws right the trouble brewing in the town itself? The Minnipins are a small people, sedate, somber and conforming. What doubles the wow factor with this one, though, is that it was written nearly sixty years ago, in Cul is a story of bravery, friendship, doing the right thing through pressure to be different, and being your gqmmage self letting your true colors shine through!
Muggles decides that Mingy should reconnoiter the Old Mines while the rest of the “Outlaws” wait behind. When Fooley the Brave, a Minnipin explorer, returned home from traveling to the Land Beyond the Mountain, he brought with him many artifacts and journal entries to help his people understand what he had learned on his journey.

The Hairless Ones have returned. The writing just never felt completely tightened up to me, almost as though the author didn’t quite gammagge the heart of what she wanted the story to convey. This is one of the few books I have clear memories of from when I first read it. She had so much common sense and untapped leadership ability. As Lloyd Alexander believed, “fantasy [is] not an escape from reality but a way to understand reality.
It is not an epic, but it is one of the most charming books out there today.
