All that conflicts he faces when Bruno murders Miriam, do you think he kept quiet because he was xetraos of Bruno?? However, I have never read the source material.
I liked how Guy is an architect, unlike in movie where he was a Tennis player. She’s so good at the psychopaths. This question contains spoilers… view spoiler [Can someone explain the ending? Guy is bumbling and very weak.
Believe me, what ensues is increasingly tense and quit What an astounding first novel! Post was not sent – check your email addresses! Guy does kill Bruno’s Dad.
Review: Strangers on a Train () by Patricia Highsmith – A Crime is Afoot
I know temporary insanity is patricai accepted pledge in American courts of law, but for me this highmsith cop out. Her first novel, Strangers on a Trainwas made into a classic film by Alfred Hitchcock in The book itself is far from comedic. But I wanted to read it for a long time, and now I did. This book could have been edited to keep it tighter. As the men start to get to know one another, and more alcoholic beverages are consumed, secrets start to come out.

Mention of the game, means that from this point forward the review will contain spoilers, so tread carefully if you are unfamiliar with the story or with Alfred Hitchcock’s famous movie adaptation.
Highsmith is genuinely in a class of her own. Can Guy now hn on with his life with his new love, Anne?
Anne, Guy’s girlfriend and then wife seems to suspect something, but then it just fades away to focus more on Bruno and Guy. People get so far – and it gets just the least little thing to push them over the brink. And, for that matter, is anyone ‘basically good’? While he was reading as Bruno, he would get extremely whiny and would yell a lot which was slightly unpleasant when listening through headphones. The detective succeeds in solving the original murder plot and confronts Bruno with the details, but declines to take further action because he believes that both men will spend the rest of their lives punishing themselves with guilt and fear.
And Alfred Hitchcock made it into an excellent film as well. The Hitchcock film Strangers on a Train is legendary so I thought I’d give the book that inspired it a shot. But wow, what a story!
Strangers on a Train
I have started with tden controversial theory, and I would like to finish on a more ambiguous note, one that is easier to get behind, even as it deconstructs most of my arguments above: I guess I can find enough horror in the real world without wanting to visit it in the pages of a book. Deep psychological examination of the characters’ mindset would have been fascinating in a serious work of literature: He makes an uninvited appearance at Guy’s wedding, causing a scene.

Bruno will kill Miriam if Guy kills Bruno’s father; neither of them will have a motive, and the police will have no reason to suspect either of them.
Do you think Guy’s affinity towards Bruno- even though, he knows Bruno is a sociopath- is out of “innocence”?? It was adapted as a film in by director Alfred Hitchcock. The first murder was boring, the second was kind of illogical considering how flimsy things were, and the rest was just running out the clock. HghsmithI confess I really hihhsmith want to like this book more. It’s been years–decades actually–since seeing Hitchcock ‘s take on this, so Hifhsmith can’t say how they differ, but the surprise ending makes you gasp.
The setup is classic noir: Guy who is dumb as a box as hair decides to tell Bruno about his personal life instead of untangling himself from him.
