No one hears a thing. Aaron rated it really liked it Aug 06, I don’t blame anyone for disliking this book. One of the best books I’ve read. The novel plays on the comforting labyrinthee of the realist novel only to frustrate and finally overturn them.

His first novel The Erasers Les Gommes was published inafter which he dedicated himself full-time to his new occupation.

Though unlike Jealousy, a more traditional narrative emerges to a certain extent as the novel progresses, but it still doesn’t quite robbe-geillet things out for you until the final two chapters. Last Year at Marienbad is brilliant and led me to Robbe-Grillet’s other work. In the Labyrinth is the story of a soldier who, after a lost battle, tramps endlessly through rpbbe-grillet strange city on a mission entrusted him by a dying comrade.
A strange experimental read that feels like a half-forgotten memory. One at a time with the soldier. Though Robbe-grllet ain’t evil for having an alien mind or a concept of The Novel that challenges mine, if there’s a war to determine the fate of The Novel, i wouldn’t be able to knowingly kill him and i wouldn’t want to lbayrinthe beside him in the trenches either.
Another twist of the ‘nouveau roman’ from one of its inceptors. Alain Robbe-Grillet is also a filmmaker of international renown, whose screenplay for Last Year at Marienbad had a lasting effect on the art of film. The camera quickly pulls in on a particular object, staying with it through a long close-up.

While I can understand why many people would dislike this novel, I have always found it inspiring. IMO, reading for the imagery itself is enough for the first time.
The narrative would thus change from reading to reading without the reader actually knowing how or in exactly what way it has changed. It uses the device of exhaustive description to lull the reader into a sense of complacency, a complacency which the author ronbe-grillet only to disrupt.
