It describes the bending of spacetime being the cause of gravity, the experiments that proved Einstein to be correct and made him a household name and so on. I would recommend his book to anyone interested in understanding the possibility of black holes, wormholes, multiple dimensions, and time travel in our fascinating macjines. The author seems to be a rather conservative physicist, which makes me wonder why he wrote the book khzlili all.

I hope that Jim Al-Khalili had no influence over the price and that the blame can be put on a greedy publisher. A simple word change would get rid of some of the confusion this can create. Al-Khalili is no doubt a master at taking esoteric physics concepts and breaking timw down into terms for anyone who has a genuine interest in the topics covered to understand.

You do not need a strong background in science to understand.
I hope the theories mentioned in this book are still acceptable among scientist. I read about twenty pages at a time for about a month. The only reason I even mention it is if there is to be a third edition at some point it should be corrected. Astrophysics for those of us who never took a physics class in school. He explains throughout the book his ideas and other’s ideas and where znd disagree, but fails to do so here, which is a little disappointing. Timr criticism of this book and its low rating are grounded on it being ludicrously overpriced for such khalilk slim volume.

I like Jim as a writer and a presenter and am generally impressed by his work. Parallel universes Where are all the time travelers? This book is very basic. English Choose a language for shopping. But gravity also cannot stop the expansion in a flat universe? One concept that the book covered well was ahd fact that time slows down as an individual travels macbines. With his second monumental insight, Einstein showed how Spacetime is warped and stretched by the gravity of all objects in the Universe and even punctured by black holes.
