Scarlette rated it liked it May 06, A new addition to my list of beftolt books. They happen upon a poor prostitute who – despite her own lot – is charitable to everyone. Brechtian theatre articulated popular themes and forms with avant-garde formal experimentation to create a modernist realism that stood in sharp contrast both to its psychological and socialist varieties. One of my favorites by Brecht, it leaves the audience with more questions than answers- as it should.
