    Yes. Yes. YES!

My law class is full of privileged, white, upper-middle-class, straight kids, and they are constantly whining about how discrimination either doesn’t exist, or they’re the ones being discriminated against. Gag me with a spoon.

I think most of them “tolerate” the fact that I’m queer… but let’s see how tolerant they’ll be if I bring a female date to prom next year.

Anyways, one of them, a rich white chick who does nothing but complain about how she’s discriminated against for being white, was complaining about how discriminated against she was because she couldn’t go to a seminar about scholarships for African-Canadian students.

    Ugh.

    SO very true.

another of my favorite responses to the idiotic idea of reverse racism is something one of my criminology profs mentioned…he said, it’s like a seesaw. in order to have reverse racism, we would have had to swing through a period of equality, and equality has never existed.

    thank you for this post.

AWESOME. sooo great. I’m going to repost this and link back. I wish more white folks could wrap their heads around this. When I try to discuss the concept of privilege and institutionalized racism with some people, they immediately talk about how racism goes both ways and there are a lot of POC who hate white people. so fucking what? it’s not about that at all.
